Just bought a copy of DVD Copy3 Platnium. Tried the trial version w/ DVD Decypter & it didn't seem to work. ( Said burn was succesful but disc would not play on PC or standalones ). Using Ridata -R's & Verbatim +R's.

Looking for something that I won't have to open. just work in the background.

I see some members say use AnyDVD & some others say Region Free+CSS, or DVDIdle. What is best ??

I just bought a copy of Region Free+CSS and waiting for it to come in the mail. Also does anyone know if Region Free+CSS comes w/ free updates?? The version I bought is 5.82 so that's why I wanted to know if it's updateable since know I think there's a 5.88 version ( it was only $10.00 ) Don't know if updateable is really a word.

I've heard that Brobear is very knowledgeable @ using DVD Copy 3.

    Need help,

    Thanks

    Hello Dabig25,

At what speed did you burn those media ?

Usually fast burns will/might play on the PC, it's in the stand alone DVD players that you get the most problems !

Try burning one at 2x or 4x, a slow burn makes all the difference...
I burn everything at 2x, regarless of the media, and I make 0 coasters in the past 2 years !

And yes, AnyDVD seems to be the most popular one, and it's being updated all the time, so your always ready for any new protection that comes out !

If you have a burn log, post it, sometimes there's things in there that we can see.

Never really use DVD Copy 3, but Nero and VSO CopyToDVD has awsome logs, and gives us lots of info on what's going on !

I couldn't even get that proggy to burn (using the trial), so I used Nero. Nero lets you adjust burn speed.

when copying a movie using dvd copy3,is it okay to set up the source as my dvd-rom and then set the target up as my dvd writer ??

It seems to have worked. Copied 1 movie so far but haven't watch the whole movie yet all the way through.

    The picture quality is great.

The question your asking is, can you rip on the fly.
I do it all the time with copy3,its not reccomended, because it increases your chances for errors, but my system can handle it.
The other question you asked, is can you control the burning speed with copy3? The answer to that one is no,thats why I only buy 4x media.
I think the Intervideo dvdcopy3 is a great program, and it is second, only to dvdrb/cce in picture quality.

[bold]Yes[/bold], I do this every time I use DVDCopy3. Make a new empty folder on you hdd under a name you can associate with the movie you're backing up example: you're making a backup of ALIEN, name your folder ALIEN_DVDC3. Open DVDCopy3 on target click on the mag. glass and folder and locate the folder you just made. Make sure you click on fit to one disc. Click start. When DVDCopy3 is done burn the folder to a dvd with nero or other burning app, choosing the speed you wish to burn at.

If you have anydvd there is no need to rip with dvd decrypter prior to useing DVDCopy3.

This is still faster and better quality than dvd shrink, you just have to burn the file manually with nero instead of letting shrink trigger nero to do it automatically.

oopps... I have my AnyDvd running all the time, so I forgot to mention it.LOL
AnyDvd makes all dvd's seem like they are not encrypted.I rip on the fly with Intervideo dvd copy3,nero recode,dvd2one,clone dvd etc.

Since dvd decrypter is done with updates, there is no better time to buy AnyDvd.

If you dont have another burning program, other than copy3, then my answer still holds true...there is NOT a way to control your burning speed...which is one of the draw backs of any 1 click copy program.

@elizerroj,just because your having trouble with the program, doesnt mean everyone does.
I love the program and as i've stated above, its my second favorite program to use.
This program does have its draw backs, as again ive stated above, along with the fact its editing features leave alot to be desired.
I use it when I want to do the whole disc,as long as I can keep the rate of compression at a 3 or better, this is the program that I use.

Maybe your system isnt suited for it elizerroj

    Yeah Jimm_dandy

I was thinking about getting media rated @ slower speed.

I'm gonna try to save on HD first then dropping it on to a disk.

I copied Mystic River, picture quality is good, but I seemed to have the menu glitch,

When I click seen selection, it either does go to scenes or when I chose scene selection it will just start the main movie itself.

Mort81, thanks for the instructions on how to put it on HD first.

I might have more questions later on how to do it like that again,

    I'll try it again later.........

    Hi jim,

I wasn't trying to argue with you only pointing out a way to control burn speed w/ DVDCopy3 other than useing 4x rated discs. Most have some sort of burning software even if it's oem.

@Mort81,no problem,I know you were'nt trying to argue with me.This forum is for varying opinions, and different uses, of all the many apps available. When somebody asks me about a certain program, I try to give advice that is exclusive to that program, because most of us dont want to go buy another.
I own at least 6 apps that I use whenever I see fit, and most are not free. But I really dont have the time to state all the different ways to use a certain piece of software,or other alternative sofware.Thats why this forum is of great use to all.Because you can post another way to use it, that I might have forgotten about, or just failed to mention. Then the person with the problems can sort through it all and find out what works best for them....no harm no foul here mort :)

@elizerroj,I have heard of people having problems with menu glitches, that has not happened to me.But I have found, every great now and then, where there is a disc that just wont play after its burned. It looks like it wrote, but the dvd player just wont play it.So it's not a perfect app,as far as I've found, there is no such thing. But the end result is worth the slight risk. IMHO

All that being said,if you dont want to just burn 4x media, then mort's suggestion works great. Here's an easy to follow guide for burning your files manually with nero. http://www.dvdshrink.info/nero-video.php

    @gringle,hi nice to be back.
ya lost me on that one I dont have the foggiest idea what your talking about.LOL
    later guys

I feel exactly the same about DVDCopy3 as j_d. I believe it is second best only to RB/CCE. Although I use RB/CCE 95% of the time, there are occasins when I want to burn on the fly or make a quick quality backup and for these there are none better IMHO than DVDCopy3.

The only problem I have had with it is the other day I used it to backup ALONE IN THE DARK and for some unknown reason I had audio on the menu and extra's but no sound on the movie (I use DVDRemake to edit out previews, trailers, and warning sreens leaving a functional menu, the movie, and extra's I choose). Tried it several times making sure I didn't deselect english AC3 for the movie but got same result each time. Beats me.

I encoded the exact same folder with RB/CCE and all audio is fine. I tried a different vidio folder that was on my hdd (THE LIFE AQUATIC) (that had also been edited with DVDRemake) with DVDCopy3 and all audio was fine. I still don't know what the problem was with DVDCopy3 and ALONE IN THE DARK but still prefer DVDCopy3 over all transcoders/encoders except RB/CCE.

So far it seems that Region Free+CSS works great w/ DVD Copy3.

It just makes the movie look unprotected to copy3. Don't even have to open it up. Still using the trial version of Region.

just purchased a copy of region free, waiting for the CD to arrive in the mail.

Tried copying Beautiful Mind(Russell Crow) w/ copy 3.

Downloaded to HD then, tried burning on to disc.

DVD copy said that the burn was successful, but when trying to play it on my pc & stadalone player it won't play.

What's up w/ that, anybody else have this problem?????????????????....used Verbatim DVD+R

This isn't the first time that this has happened. When I went directly from original to DVD+R it worked fine copying another movie (Mystic River) ??????????
