    I was planning on getting a mod chip and I was wondering which is a good one. I was thinking of the Xenium ICE or the Xecuter 2.6.

    I have installed the Xenium Spice in 5 xboxs and I haven't had any problems. Great chip. Comes with everything installed already. Great for noobs. (like I was not too long ago). Xecuter 3 CE is great chip also. It is kinda split down the middle between these 2 chips. You like one or the other - Ford or Chevy? You pick either any you won't go wrong.

    I choose the Xecuter,great support and they update the bios files frequently for it.Another thing to look at is the programmer that is additional for the Xecuter.I have it and it makes flashing the bios real easy,very important for modding your Xbox is making sure you have a good bios flash.I have been using an old Xecuter mod before the Xecuter3 CE and it has been able to boot anything I throw at it.I plan on upgrading real soon to the latest Xecuter chip,but for right now I am happy with what I have.

    no offense but its kinda obvious i think the only thing u might find better about it is that u dont dont have to solder which is good if u dont know how.
    i chose not to get it and i soldered mine and my chip works fine and ive never used a soldering iron in my life and theres probably sumthing else that makes it different that i dont know cuz im a n00b.

    I think it's very overpriced if you just want to play backups, I'm not saying that what he's installed is not worth that price?? Your basically going to be paying more for appearance than functionality!!!!

    Xbox= $120
    Modchip= $50
    250GB HD= 120
    Total= $290 maybe more or less, this is more than enough in my opinion, mod it yourself and don't pay someone else!! There are plenty of guides and forums where you can get info on how to mod an Xbox.................Your looking at the Xbox forums right now!! LOL

    hi, i have a v.1.0 xbox. i want to get a modchip but there are so many of them. i don't mind sodering. i also don't want to be spending alot of money on one. is there a cheaper really good one?
    2. you don't really need a bigger hard drive in the xbox if you are NOT going to copy games onto it right? that is the main porpose for a larger hard drive right?
    3. are the xbox hard drives the same as computer hard drives because i have a 80 gb hard drive that i am not useing?
    4.do all mod chips for xbox play other roms and emulators? like snes ,sega,nes, ect..
    so that is what i need, a somewhat affortable mod chip that works good and can play emulortors and play back ups. i also want to ftp and copy xbox games to dvd-r with my computer.

    Duzuldare, here are some answers to your questions...
    1.For solder modchips, I would try a Xecuter 2.6 CE. If you want a solderless one, the SpiderChip v1.1 works with all versions and is around $30.
    2. You do not need a large hard drive if you will not be storing games onto it. However, you need to transfer games from you DVD-Rom on your xbox to it's harddrive and then ftp them onto your computer and then make an iso to burn them. So, you need at least 4-5 empty gb on your hdd and you can delete the games after you FTP them to your computer.
    3. Most computer hard drives should work on XBOXs. Almost all Maxtor drives work. It depends on the brand of the hdd. Here is a list of hdd that have worked:
    http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com/
    4. I do not know much about ROMs and Emulators but I am pretty sure all mod chips will be able to play all emulators. however, don't quote me on that.
