Best normally means what is "your", [meaning each individual's] best or favorite software/s for editing and creating dvd's. I have yet to meet or see a group who can agree there is one specific best software. There are all kinds of softwares and utilities out there for doing so. It's what you find which is most comfortable for you to use. I would say about 70-80% do mainly the same thing but user friendliness varies. My personal favs are "Super Video Converter", [for converting and joining], "MainConcept MPEG Encoder", [Conversion] and "DVD Santa", [For creating the VOB's to DVD]. These tools are so easy, you just do the Ron Popiel "Set it and forget it" routine. Everything is done by the program with nary an adjustment. I'm old school. I like to put time into my creation which in turn takes a bit of time to do so. If you've got the time, these utilities are well worth the steps to create your DVD.

I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about TMPGEnc. However I'm haven't yet had the opportunity to try this software. I'm a veteran and huge supporter of DVDSanta. This is a great software for taking more or less any type of video file, [except for ratDVD] converting and creating new VOB's for burning. "Fastest" will depend solely on the specs of your pc. No disrespect, but seeing what you are running, you aren't going to have terrific speed results. With my system, I can have the conversion and burn process done normally in about 17-23 minutes, depending on the size of the video file which is being converted. Hope this helps!
