I was wandering if theres anything close to or better in quality then using a program that uses cce as in encoder like avi2dvd.
As i dont have the older version of cce anymore, avi2dvd doesnt function with the newer one, so im looking for something new to convert my avi and also add chapters and convert to dvd.
Preferably something that can use cce as an encoder, since i think thats the best quality way to do it, or am i wrong..?

Honestly, nothing else comes close to CCE SP 2.70 when speaking of encoders. However, some may says that ProCoder 2 is better, but that's inevitable. In the end, it all boils down to preferences and choices, but both CCE SP & ProCoder 2 is the way to go.

    thanks for clearing that up.
since i cant use avi2dvd with cce 2.7, what would be to best way to go about(while still using cce as an encoder) to make a dvd from a few episodes in avi format and also making chapters to select which one to watch.
edit: to me it looks like using this guide might be the best way for me http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/divx_to_dvdr_with_dvd2svcd_normal.cfm unless anyone has something else
just to be sure though dvd2svcd will make chapters every certain few minutes depending on which you choose, but when you pop in that dvd into your dvd player is the only way to go to the next chapter by clicking next chapter on your remote, or will there be an on screen menu to choose what chapter when you first pop in the dvd??
so if it only makes a chapter every constant certain amount of minutes you selected, how would i go to the start of the next episode...

And others will say that CCE 2.50 is better than 2.70 and Procoder 1.5 is better than 2.

I do not use CCE, but did they replace/upgrade CCE SP with CCE SP2 or is SP2 a different product? I was just wondering because I saw CCE SP2 on their site.

As for creating a DVD with multiple epsodes, if you are willing to shell out $2000 for an encoder, you might as well add another couple hundred $ and get an authoring program.

You can try out DVDLab Pro (I think it is $250 now) or TMPGEnc DVD Author (probably around $70). Thsoe will give you better control over the DVD. There is also a freeware Authoring program (DVDAuthorGUI???). Check out the authoring FAQs sitckied in the authoring threads.

The basic version for $58 is all that is needed for most of the apps that can use CCE e.g. DVDRebuilder.

thanks i will probably try dvd lab, but to me it seems like a lot of confusing steps now. Dont know where to start now since instead of converting the files into vob using dvd2svcd i have to convert them to a mpeg complaint file that the authoring program can open and also rip the music from that file?? (dont know how to even do that)
    just seem kind of lost..
is there any complete guide to use from starting with avi episodes to ending up with a dvd with chapters for each episode, or any tips someone can give me.

I assumed that was the encoder used. I thought the $60 one is CCE Lite or something like that...

As for where to start, you are already there!! CCE will make DVD Compliant mpeg2 files. I am working on such a guide that you are talking about. I have finished about 120 pages of it, but don't let the size fool you. It involves lots of authoring programs and I did cover DVDLab Pro. However, I do not own CCE, so I did not cover that. I am sure you can borrow the settings from Mainconcept though. If that is a problem though, I can download CCE SP2 and figure out some of the options.

I can send you the incomplete version if you want. The DVDLab section is not complete, but more than enough to get you started. I also cover creating Dolby Digital 5.1 files from both a stereo source and a multichannel source. You will need some type of DD encoder though.

Let me know if you would like a copy of the guide and I will quickly create a PDF and upload it for you (well not too quickly, I am currently encoding seven 5.1 wave files so my PC is out of comission for about 30 minutes). Just remember, it is in "beta" phase, so do not expect spelling and grammar to be perfect. Also, since I am sending it incomplete, there will not be my usual flow charts that I have in my guides.
