I have a computer hooked up to my hdtv using a dvi-vga cable. I have a nvidia 7900 GS card that is not hdcp compliant. I am running Vista, using PowerDVD Ultra to play back blu-ray and hd-dvd. When playing back the movies, it is clear that I am not getting full hi def. The picture is only slightly sharper than regular dvds. Any idea what is causing my system to output video in this lower resolution?

try another player besides powerdvd, see what results you get, make sure your tv is configured correctly

I think you need an HDCP compliant video card to get 720p or 1080i/p. What BluRay drive are you using? I assume you're using the 360 AO for HD DVD.

I tried installing WinDVD but that refuses to play the hi def formats. I'm playing these off my hard drive (these are full rips from the xbox360 drive and a blu-ray drive). Could the cable I'm using also be a problem, it's a vga-dvi cable. Maybe it doesn't like that the cable is an analog cable.
