Hello All, I came across a file "TempImage.nrg" that seems to be some sort of file image. I do not know what it contains and I would like to find out what is in it.
When I open it, Nero tries to burn it but does not list what is in it.
    How can I see "inside"?
    Thanks
    JG

a .NRG file would be a Nero disc image file, similar to a standard .ISO image file. It contains the binary information to an exact copy of an original disc. If you are not sure what is on it, then you can either burn it to a disc wiht Nero and explore the contents to find out or open it with a program like Winrar or Undisker.

Simplest way I've found so far to view image content is to mount the image on the virtual drive and open it up like a normal folder - this definitely works for alcohol 120% and Iso Images and I'm pretty sure it does for .nrg too.

Browse to MyComputer, right click your virtual drive and where it says mount image, browse to the image file and open it...... The rest is automatic in XP anyways.....

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for the reply.
You lost me with "mount the image on the virtual drive" but that's another subject and I'm sure another forum.I don't think we can go into that here. I will do the research.
In any event, I burned the image and found out it was music.
    Thanke a bunch,
    JG

Sorry - maybe a little bit OTT for a Newbie. Mormally if you have programs like Nero or Easy CD Creator installed to mention but a few they install a virtual drive (Something I had on my machine for 4 years or more with absolutely no clue as to what it was all about - let alone used for). I still really have no clue as to it's purpose but I will say it's reat to have for exactly the purpose discussed here.

Once again if you look at your cd drives in My Computer under Devices with removanle storage (Typically called D: or E: depending on your configuration and partitioning you should find your physical CD drive say a Toshiba for example and also one that shows up simply as a letter like F or G for example - all you need do is right click on both of these. One will give you the option to mount the image, the other one not. The one that does is your virtual drive - hope it helps.....
