Linksys is Cisco, THE router company. Dlink is...well, Dlink. Although, when buying a router, it should be one or the other, I always put linksys on top.

Just like the newegg reviews say about the dlink, you pretty much hafta use dlink adapters, ESPECIALLY if you want any of the "Speed booster" fluff. Same/same goes for linksys, if you want "Speed booster", you gotta use linksys adapters, but if you don't care, I have yet to find a b/g adapter that didn't work with either my wrt54g at home, or the wrt54gs @ work. Linksys also has the 1 button security thinger, which I havent' personally used, but it's nice...and you'll want to be securing your network.

Personally, I prefer the linksys router interface and some of the options and the way it sets things up.

In any case, Linksys and Dlink are really the only way to go in the router department, I personally put Linksys on top, but that's just me.

    linksys is the best.
i have tested just about every router.. single antenna routers have a lot to be desired as well..

get a linksys, 40 to 50 bucks and your set.

the new linksys WRT300N is the top for speed.. but it got some shaky reviews.. check it out online reviews first. here is a direct link to linksys for this one http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...513404&pagename=Linksys/Common/VisitorWrapper

    Go with WRT54G
if you want a small upgrade you can snag the WRT54GS (some small issues)
but i would just get the WRT54G.. its the on i use after many many different linksys systems
i snaged mine at bestbuy because i tried out about 3 before i got the one i liked

    WRT54G $55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124010
    WRT54GS $75 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124136
for the small differance its not worth it in my mind for the GS

If you are looking for a router that you can put a hacked firmware on (more speed, more control), avoid the Version 5 WRT54G, as it is not flashable with a hacked firmware. The V5 does not run Linux. The new WRT54GL is just a renamed V4 WRT54G, and still runs linux (hence the L in the model number). These can be upgraded with a 3rd party firmware.

This is only if you want to go the 3rd party firmware route. If you just want to run out of the box, the WRT54G is fine ( i run several of them at some of my locations)
