hi. i have just bought a x-box for my son and have had it chipped, can anyone tell me the best software to backup the games to dvd-r. thanx any info would help. i have tried dvd-decrypter is that the best software...
There are a few ways that are used to make virtually perfect xbox dvd's. One of the best methods is Craxtion. You can download it a www.craxtion.com. Craxtion is about the best all around tool you can get. It pretty much does everything you will need to do. There is also GDFImage which is a nice way to make a gdf'd.iso. GDFImage is a program that you need to put into a front end loader of some sort. If you locate the gdfimage.exe file you can load it into the Craxtion folder and choose to use it in the menu options instead of the bundeled isox software that it comes with. I have found it to be the prefered method when using Craxtion. Quix makes another good (optomized)iso that works very well from what I have read. If you are putting games strictly to the xbox hard drive then i would say dvd2xbox copy is about the best app you can have.
Oh and by the way... you can't backup games using only your computer since the discs can't be read by your PC (except a stupid 12meg movie). So you have to network your xbox to your PC, transfer the files from the disc in the xbox to your pc then make a ISO with Craxtion of the files you transferred and then finally burn that ISO... isn't it simple?!?
craxtion rocks, by far the best By the way, there seems to be some confusion around as to wether the xbox can read dvd+r or dvd-r. It depends on you r drive I would imagine (the dvd drive) I have a samsung sdg-605 drive and it reads dvd-r and dvd+rw (I havent tried dvd-rw) but it wont read dvd+r (it reads all cd formats I have tried so far) So before you back up games, find out what media is best for your xbox
