i loked at the stickies and the links within them and its just way too out there and complex hehe. all i want is basically the video on the dvd and thats it...i dont want subtitles, or chapters and all that stuff.

im currently using this program called super dvd creator 8.5 and when i open a 750mb dvd-ripped avi file to it, the space on the dvd-r its gonna take up is like 5 gigs. wtf :(

    thanks

There's a bunch of proggies available: avi2dvd and NeroVisionExpress from the Nero suite of programs just to mention a couple. Nero has a free trial available and can be found at www.nero.com. Once your AVIs are in mpeg form, the freebee DVDShrink can be used to further compress the video files as well as strip all except the main title. There are many other programs that can do this as well such a Nero Recode and many other commercial programs.

alright thanks. but how would i convert it to MPEG? does that mean ill need another program?

to be more specifice im downloading movies (torrents) and most of them come in .avi files. i just wanna be able to put this file on a dvd so i can watch it in a standard home dvd player. and it has to fit of course.

    thanks

Here's a guide for using divxtodvd:

    http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DivXtoDVD.pdf

In NeroVision Express just import the files and make the target a DVD disk or an iso image file.

All these programs will make DVD compliant (mpeg) files.

    hi

in my book there is only 2 apps for avi to dvd with the best quailty ever these are TFM The FilmMachine + CCE cinema craft encoder, quailty output as dvd is the same as the avi first loaded truely awesome !!! couldnt live without them...

bin / cue are svcd or vcd (mpegs going on CDR not DVDR) now for mpeg (rip mpeg out of bin file - isobuster to rip out - m2f2 tab) encoding i use another amazing app called Mainconcept encoder to get those mpegs to mpeg2 (dvd compliant) then load to tmpgenc dvd author to make vob/ifo/bup (dvd) and burn...

nero will burn bin/cue to cdr

need any more help just shout...

also you will find fast all round encoders like divxtodvd are fast but quality isnt a patch on above 2 mentioned encoders, so speed is a sacrafice to quailty...
