As ddp said to reinstall the drivers. If that does not work go online to the official site and find the updated drivers for your graphics card.

the cmos has nothing to do with how many colours windows tells the graphics card to output

Like was said try reinstalling the graphic drivers and also do a scan for viruses and see what you come up with.

i thought a cmos error would reset the bios to default which in turn would make windows unsure of installed componants, but hey, live and learn.

that last post sounds like an infection. try asking in the virus section of the windows software thread if anyone has had any thing that acts like this.

how old is your card as it could be a fault on that if nothing else turns up. can you test it in another pc?

since this first began happening I must of taken the card out atleast 15 times and tried using the pc without it but this crap happens with and without the card. restoring the whole system with the restore dvd didnt work either i will try installing new windows but if that doesnt work your help is all i can count on.

and thats only part of my problem the damn pc at first started restarting itself out of nowhere and the color thing started happening about 2months after that

do you guys think i should try selling the pc, maybe for parts or something and get a new one
