    When a thread is moved by a mod a thread should be auto generated with the address of where it was moved
    to.in the tread where it was first posted...

    And with a click on direct link to where the thread was moved to.

    Note:a lot of members do not check this box..and can not find the thread..
    Check this box, if you want to get email notifications when new messages are added to this thread.

    Mate most of the time i would agree with u but i think this is not really important because if the people really cared about the thread and wanted to continue to be involved in the thread they would check the box and be notified by email of when it gets updated.

    Its as simple as that. If they dont want to thats their choice. relocating a thread when a user is subscribed doesnt really matter. I really only notice its movement if the mod actually posts Moved in the thread. Otherwise i dont really look at where its posted unless i am the first to reply and then if its in the wrong section i report it to b moved. I dont think this is very hard to do.

    just my 2 cents.

    i have never used this since day one,and only by accident when it was used..i just remerber where the thread is..and i have around 16k posts..
    i am only thinking of the newbies..with my idea....

    Check this box, if you want to get email notifications when new messages are added to this thread.

    @borhan9 ... I have several times this week alone sent a message to a mod asking that a thread be moved. Its always a newb with a seemingly important question (to him anyway) who posted in the wrong forum and will never get an answer where he posted.

    Well mayb gerry or Ireland one of you can put this suggestion as part of the comp that is being run at the moment. I dont still understand how exactly this suggestion is going to work. but if it helps clear the crapp im for it. saves me the trouble of posting to mods about the wrong forum issue.

    Hey not bad ireland! I like this idea because I also don't use the subscribe thing and sometimes I'll post somewhere and the next thing you know it's gone because it was moved:(

    Of coarse I know my way around the site so I always find it but newbies would have trouble.For instance : a newb posts a question but because it's in the wrong forum it gets moved.Well next thing you know the newb is back where he originally posted(for his answer) and wondering where his thread went.

    You know what happens then? He either gets discouraged and leaves the site or he posts the same question again!

    i don't see the problem; we move a thread and the original poster and/or any subscribed users are automatically still attached to the thread. This site doesn't need any more bits of functionality slowing things down. For instance, my emails are a bit sporadic over the last couple days (not AD's fault), and so i've been going into my list of subscribed threads to see what threads have been updated since i last logged in. That search takes a good while to find the results (i'm subscribed to 14000+ threads) and my CPU takes a hit while the list is compiled). So imagine how extra functionality affects the site.

    Email notification of a thread is ticked by default, do we really need to have more code put in because a few people deliberately untick something and then complain because they can't find something. In the immortal words of McCauley Culkin - "i don't think so".

    us mods have enough to do (i spent more time teleporting daftly placed threads than most other things), 'fraid we can't hand-hold every little move for every person, it's just common sense to (by default) leave the tickbox alone if you actually want to follow something.

    Oh and if anyone (noob or regular poster alike) couldn't find their posts - there's the search function; i don't aggressively post that recommendation like some people do but for something like a moved and lost post i disbelieve that people don't think to do a search. And guess what, who cleans up multiposting anyway, ME :p

    Thats exactly what i was getting at on my earlier posts in this thread. It already is easy as to keep up to date with threads cause most people keep thread notifications ticket. therefore when they recive emails it is updated that way. So therefore I like the function as is.

    sorry, got on my high horse a little, well as far as the stirrups anyway; i spend most of my life on google, at work and home, and i find it almost disturbing when people lose or can't find basic things (even if they're not computer-aware) <last rant, honest> :p

    creaky all; its doing is adding this to what you got now...and i do not use or support google..and most newbies do not use search.and you know that too.

    i don't see the point of extra threads just to say a thread was moved, that just isn't efficient. As someone who could also be known as 'the Teleporter' i guarantee that this would generate huge amounts of extra unwanted threads. I don't see why the majority would have to wade thru extra unnecessary stuff just because a handful of people (foolishly!) untick a default tickbox; doing that is everyone's choice however if they want to follow something then why on earth are they unticking it, only to complain it's been moved ? :p

    i go to sites i mod,and that is what we use..and it works well..
    that the reason i brought it up here..its up to drd...

    you have to use it to understand how well it works.. and how much it helps the newbies..or members...as most new members do not know there way around the site to go find where the thread was moved to.
    we can find the moved thread,with out e-mail notification.but can they...
    when a thread is moved the newbies or members can not find the thread and they repost the same question in a new thread.
