When I insert my powerdvd disc to operate dvd RW and restart I cant see video just hear audio?

All my windows media player movies show a black screen when they play. But when I restore my computer everything goes back to normal except I cant decode stuff to play or watch dvds. i have a copied version of windows does that have anything to do with it. I would really appreciate help. Thanks Dan

 

Also when I try to download nero is says I need Directx 9.0c. Could that be why I see a black screen.
