when will it all end

i live in dublin had my box since aug 2006, im trying to get my friend to buy a box but he keeps saying that its all going to end soon that ntl will figure out a way to stop us using there service, i know they keep changing the codes but is that all they can do , is there any way they can stop us ,i want to shut him up once and for all please help,i i love my box ,dont know what i would do without it, what do you think
