whenever i try an play a dvd it just wont work but avi's will

    i can play avi's on my computer and any other type of video format on the computer, but if i try and play a DVD it just will not play, i can even open it up inside WMP and the titles will show but it wont play, it just stays at the beginning, doesnt freez or anything it just wont start and wont let me press play.

    any suggestions?

    and ps sorry about cussing in my other post.

    1.well first off does your computer read dvds?LOL(asking just in case)
    2.what programs do you use to play movies?(divx player,nero showtime,etc.)
    3.do you have codecs?(if not download ffdshow,xvid codec,divx codec)

    yes i have a dvd drive
    i use windows media player
    and i have ffdshow

    do you have any solutions to my problem?

    i figured it out, its because i run win xp 64 bit and on windows media player it doesnt play dvd's but if i use the satsuki decoder pack which includes win media player classic, itll play dvd's fine. anywho thx for your help.
