hey i wanted to give my internet a WEP key because i think i have a hacker. Does anyone know what to do to get rid of them?
Launch a Web browser. In the location or address line of your Web browser, type http://192.168.123.254 to access the Web User Interface. The default user name is admin. There is no default password. Click OK to login. Within the Web User Interface, you'll have to explore to find the settings.
After following the above instructions: To access the WEP information, go to the Wireless section tab, and Security. Note: If you have trouble with your wireless link, try a 64-bit (instead of using a 128 bit WEP key or WPA) WEP key. To minimize WEP Key mismatch errors (due to typing errors, etc.), use a simple and short (i.e. a 10-digit Hex WEP Key such as 0123456789, 3333333333, 4444444444, etc.) during your troubleshooting sessions. edit-- then
Since I don't have the same router as you (I have Linksys), maybe Darkhadou can help a little more with this. Make sure that the person who was connected to you has been deleted as a user. Otherwise, they may stay connected even after setting up the encryption.
"Make sure that the person who was connected to you has been deleted as a user. @Dolphin2- LOL I have Linksys too @xsnakex- To allow specific computers to connect to your network, thus getting rid of the hacker. You will have to set access restrictions using each PCs MAC address. BTW if you want to find out the MAC address of each of your PCs, open up command prompt on each one and type in "ipconfig /all" (without quotation marks) and scroll down for the MAC address (shown as PHYSICAL ADDRESS). This should make your network much more secure. edit-- All/ most info is from the official support page http://www.usr.com/support/8054/8054-ug/three.html
@Darkhadou Guess I was being lazy. Did the initial search but thought you had the same router and could help better. That's what I get for thinking! LOL!!
my computers always restarting, and my mouse is always moving on its own sometimes. Its hard to control the mouse then.
