So I just bought Nero 2017 and I don't see Nero Wave Editor in it. Did Nero remove it?

if so, can I install Nero 2017 and have it co-exist w/ Nero 2010 (which has wave editor)

Also, I'm temporary installing Nero 2017 on an old PC to backup all the pictures and video, as soon as I'm done, I'll be phrasing out this old PC and move to the new PC

Can I install Nero again w/ the same serial no. on my new PC?

You can only use a serial number on one PC. Before installing on another PC, you would first uninstall v2017.

You can use v10 and v2017 on the same computer. I have 7 versions installed on this system and more installed on another system. I I think they discontinued including WaveEditor and SoundTrax in the suite around v2017. They were separate downloads. You can download it here- http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/index.php?&NeroSID=36fb913e73192ba82654d29caef1d67a

v10 is good to keep around if you want to add subtitles to a video. That was discontinued in v11.

    Does that help?

I didn't think to ask- what do you mean by "backup all the pictures and video?" Depending on what you mean, you may not need to install v2017 on the other computer.

Also, where did you get v2017? If it was used, you won't be able to register the serial number.

I don't believe it. I pay more money to get LESS? I need that wave editor. So I guess I have to keep both version then.

But w/ Nero 2017, I only need it to burn Blu-ray disc, and music CD. The only reason I buy this, is because I can't burn 100GB BD-RE or BD-R on Nero 2010, so I thought it could be the software

it's brand new, sealed, just a store discontinued sale, and I already installed on my old PC and registered.

I gave you the link to get the latest WaveEditor.

There are a number of things you can do in v10 that you can't in v2017 but I won't go into details right now.

I should point out that if you want to burn a 100 GB data disc in v10, you can do that in Burning Rom, Blu-ray (UDF). Similarly, you can burn a 100 GB video disc in v10 Burning Rom, Blu-ray Video. Of course, you would first need to create the project in Nero Vision and then burn it to your hard drive as a BDMV folder.

You didn't answer my question about "backup." Please explain since you may not want to do that on your old PC if your intent is to use Nero BackItUp.

No, I never use Nero Backit up. All I use w/ Nero, is to copy my pet's photos and their video in 50GB Blu-ray disc. It's a straight Burn via Burning ROM

    I can't burn 100GB data disc in V10, I have tried that about 10 times on 100GB BD-R, and a few times on a 100GB BD-RE.

With BD-R, it fails around 30GB, so it will burn for a while, then it stops, and I can see the first no. of video files are accessable, so I can view them. But up to 30GB, after that, the Burning ROM software just ended w/ error

With BD-RE, it fails within the 1st min.,

This is the only reason I buy Nero 2017, as I thought there is some compatible issue between Nero 10 vs. my 100GB disc.

and I only use made in Japan blu-ray disc. Both on BD-R and BD-RE, so they are as good as they can get

    ================

I just double check that link, I did see Wave Editor this time, and download it, thank you very much

    Thanks for your reply.

I wonder if your blu-ray player supports 100 GB discs. What is the model number?

Did you know that you can burn blu-ray data discs directly from Windows/File Explorer?

it's the Pioneer BDR-S07J-BK, made in Japan, confirm from its spec. sheet that it support burning of 100GB disc. What's your take on this? You think it's the blu-ray burner? I only use this once per mth. for burning video on to 50GB BD-R media

I don't trust File explorer even if it can do it

I could only find that it supports BDXL. It may support burning 100 GB discs but you have to use M discs to get that capacity. Usually, if a drive supports a M disc, it says so on the front of the drive but the only picture I could find doesn't show that.

Are you using Burning Rom or Nero Express? If so, go here-

    C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Roaming\Nero 10\Nero Burning ROM

Find the NeroHistory.log file. Attach the file here.

    Also, what is your OS?

I got thinking about it and you might not be able to attach the .log file I asked for. If not, you can open the file in NotePad and then copy/paste it's contents here. You can also upload it to a website such as dropbox, wetransfer, one drive, etc. and share it. Then get the link and post it here.

okay, I have tried 2 different kind of 100GB disc:
    1) Mitsubishi BDXL 100GB (tried 8 of them, all failed), turns out I got cheated, it's made in Taiwan
    2) Verbatim M disc BDXL 100GB (only have one, and it failed), made in Japan

    Both failed

The Pioneer Blu ray burner does not have the letter "M" on the drive.

I use Nero Burning ROM (I never use Express)

The OS is Win 7, the PC is 6 year old, but it's a fancy Dual Xeon on a Asus Workstation class motherboard

So I did look at the log file, the one that failed was last year, so that error log is gone on Nero 10. But I still have an error log of Nero 18. Although if you want me to generate another burn using my Sony BD-RE (100Gb), I can do that easily, let me know.

So here's the log of Nero 18 back, August 2020 at the next mesg.

EDIT: there is a max. of 60,000 character allow by Afterdawn, so I can't cut &paste the entire file, so I have to select a case or 2 and post it separately

It's reporting the drive model as 207M but it says it's BDXL capable.

Can you change the write speed to 1 or 2x? If so, try a burn at the slower speed.

Where did you find the specs for the SO7J?

I based my comment on experience with the error messages in the log. This morning, I looked up the BDR-207 and the link you provided, and both say 2x for TL. The problem is that the log says the burns are at 4x.

I don't think it makes any difference but v2017 is out of date. Go to the Nero ControlCenter and run the check for updates and install any that appear.

    Delete the old log file.

Try another burn but set the burn options to "determine maximum speed" as well as the 2x setting. In addition, if you're planning on a multi-session disc, uncheck the "finalize disc" option.

so all these versions, whether it's 2010 or 2017 or the current 2020, how can a burning disc software be out of date? are they able to communicate w/ the latest firmware of each brand name drive?

For some reason I'm not getting notifications from this forum.

I'd have to look up what they've done to Burning Rom to update it. Unfortunately, they removed all the release notes for older versions from their download website. I remember they were having problems with D2D which uses Burning Rom and they issued some fixes with that. That wouldn't involve v10. They might also do updates to address problems within a particular version. There were a couple of gliches in v2019. They might also update the database of drives since these are always changing. The latter is what I was thinking they might have done in your case. However, as I mentioned previously, it's showing the BDR-207 with the latest firmware. I don't know whether or not Pioneer used the same engine for both drives and just changed the designation, depending on the country they are sold in.

    Did you update the software?

Have you tried what I suggested? I'd like to see the log for that.

Doesn't nero have a log forum for those who can read it. I've seen a forum that can help with nero logs on my travels.

Windows has an event log it may show more info ?

You don't need wave editor there's plenty of actual free software that can do the job, audacity is most probably the most well known (install or portable versions). Burning software as well can be had for free i.e imgburn

Google search of one of your errors turns up this as well as the last paragraph below. By the way you don't have much ram. However i can't see anything in the log that says it's an issue. Not that i'm an expert however there's no mention of memory. kinda makes you wonder why i bothered mentioning ram :p

Sense key errors are most commonly caused by:

    * A media failure (the recorder does not like the particular brand, or that piece of media)

    * A buffer underrun (the recorder was trying to burn the disc faster than the computer could send data to it)

    * Recorder failure (the recorder may be broken or about to break)

I may be wrong but have you checked "Buffer Underrun Prevention" in "recorder settings". It could simply be because your HD is unable to send data fast enough to the recorder. It's worth one more coaster just to try.
