I went to their website but sadly was clueless on where to buy one. Can anyone give me a link to where i can buy one online? I would appreciate that very much and thank you in advance
Newnie check this SPAM someone on this forum recommend it to me. and you could go to SPAM, there is a list for where to buy.
I would suggest not buying an R4, as they are dead and will have no more firmware updates to keep them running and there are like 14 clones. I would recommend searching this forum for the best flashcart, for example M3, Cyclods, or something like that. I recommend staying away from the R4 because likely it will not support newer games, and there are way too many clones out there.
PLEASE STOP BASHING THE R4 CLONES!! Do you really know ANYONE that has had their DS bricked because of a cloned R4? Believe me, the R4, cloned or not works, and works great. I have four DSLs and all of them are running an R4 from NXPGame dot com. The clones are usually updated by the site. NXPGame has the current R4 clone at 1.25. They update on a fairly regular basis. Yes, it is true that the original R4 team disbanded, but their source code was also released to the wild and others developed it further. Four R4s and not a single problem. Please, have some experience before you spout off. I also have two AceKards. They are nice too. Fast response times. I have themed my DSs and added, updated and deleted information off all of my cards. No issues. The Slot1 card's best ally is the memory card itself. Make sure you have a good, solid memory provider. I did buy a "generic" memory MicroSD card. I payed $7 for it and it was 2GB. I could not read it nor could I format it. SanDisk, Kingston, Crucial, Verbatim all make very good memory cards. Good Luck. The R4 clones are just fine. -Yorto
I don't bash the R4's because of bricking, it's because of the "iffy" support and questions about playing existing and future games. The card is just not 100% reliable.
YORTO - Great rant - pity you have had problems reading what people have put. Oh and just for your information I have had experience of them and would not suggest anyone spends there money on them anymore. Also I ALWAYS state - unless you know what you are buying!! - but at least 50% of the posts here have been people trying to get them working. 1.25 software - GREAT - but guess what this only works in 1 type of R4 card, what about the other 13 types out there - several of which have exactly the same name but use different firmware. There are 14 of them - each with different software, if you are want to see them please feel free to visit the site in my signature it hosts them all. Clone is the wrong word, a clone is a copy - therefore it should use the 1.18 original firmware. The R4's now available are not clones, they are cards called R4 to cash in on a famous reputation and get people to buy them - I have had 2 - the original was great for many months, then I got an upgrade - believe me it was appauling and nothing like the original. If you have a working card you will think its great. However, R4 has become a word people use to describe a flashcart and most are now very poor. I HAVE experienced them and would no longer recommend them, there are too many other reliable alternatives.
First of, great, uh, counter counter arguement I suppose, lol. Anyways, I, in my stupidity, bought one of a random site like a year ago, and it worked, well, not really worked, but, "turned on". lol. So yeah then I got an M3 and I'm loving it. They really aren't clones, like kittymat stated, they're more like a completely different cart that uses the R4 name for publicity, as the name R4 has been used to describe pretty much every flashcart for newbies now. I'd stay away from them since there are much better chances of you not getting ripped off with other ones. Think about it, even if you pay with paypal and you can get your money back, you've wasted like a month cause those clones probably took forever to ship it to you. Only other thing to be careful about is the DSTT, because although they have a slight chance to blow a fuse, that chance is slightly higher than other flashcarts. Although if thats all the money you have to afford one you should be all right. Hope I have helped to deter you away from R4, and welcome you to the, uh, ART of flashcarts. Lol...
got mine from http://www.i'manidiot.com edited by ddp very fast delivery only a few days and free shipping you might want to check them out
I get used to get mine from memorybits.co.uk but they have now set up a stand alone site that specialises purely in the R4/R4i http://www.i'manidiot.com edited by ddp Never a problem and their support is good too which makes a change!
R4i.co.uk - what a site - apparently they only sell genuine R4's What is a genuine R4 - the first one, that one is no longer made and also never took the SHC cards, or a genuine copy!! The R4 is a minefield and as the site ONLY seems to sell the one card - hardly a good choice. Definately a site to approach with caution.
It's a shame that the other, better quality brands failed to get their name out there(M3, Acekard, EZ, Cyclo, DSTT, etc.) like the r4 team has. I don't see the point of buying an r4 clone when there are better, sometimes even cheaper alternatives to the r4. But if people don't know about these other flash carts, they won't buy them.
