i was looking at a couple of different websites that sold xenium ice to see which was the cheapest. and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what website to buy the cheapest x-ice from. mabey free shipping too.
sorry didn't know you were looking to go solderless...if you can i would highly recommend having the chip soldered in
i just would rather have my chips soldered in...much more stable don't have to worry about realligning the chip...solderless adapters sometimes slip and move around...i guess this isn't so much of a problem if you don't mind realligning them every now and again.
if you do choose the soldering method and you solder yourself, go with a 15w iron...less chance you will damage your board... if you have no soldering skills i highly recommend you find someone who does...any chance you know what version xbox you have? also if you want someone else to do it, you can probably find someone around you that installs chips for 20-25 bucks
i did the tests on those select websites and it said it was either a 1.2 or 1.3, that there wasn't really a difference. why does that matter though?
1.6 xbox's are a little more difficult of an install, but if yours is a 1.0-1.5 the install is very simple...that is if you have good soldering skills 1.6's require that you rebuild the LPC...but now chip makers have provided a lpc rebuild board that makes it a little easier
do you know what gauge solder i have to get to do something like this. and a guide of how i'm suppose to do it.
if you order a xenium...just visit their website, they should have diagrams and all that good stuff...you will need a fine diameter solder like .032...it is quite the task for beginners, so if you would rather just go with solderless it will work for you...i just wanted you to beware that they shift at times.
