I have been having a problem hearing sound with many of my divx files. I looked around on the forum a bit and hence have used gspot and abcAVI to independently confirm that I need the Microsoft ADPCM codec to play these audio streams. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a codec to install that will allow this... Please help!

I believe that "codec" should be on your system already, it's part of the system build. Here's some instructions on how to reinstall and check to make sure it's enabled under windows 95/98. If you need more precise instructions you'll have to say what OS you have.

Thanks for the help. I have WinXP. So I went into Sound and Audio devices and under the hardware tab found Audio Codecs. When looking at the properties it shows that I have the following codecs:
    - Microsoft PCM Converter
    - Windows Media Audio, and...
    - Sipro Lab Telecom Audio Codec

The first two are enabled the last one is not.

When I looked at the add/remove programs and windows services button. The only things under multimedia are stuff like volume control and media player 4 or something... nothing about codecs. Sorry I didn't specify an OS the first time.

    Thanks again for the help.

It sounds like it's still not working, what player are you using to play these DIVx movies? Have you recently upgraded or installed a version of WMP?
