Hey people, nice forum, I was wondering if you could give me a hand with an annoying problem Ive been having with my EVOX/XBMC dash Xbox, Im trying to get music and video files to display in My Music and My Video but the damn things wont show up, I can FTP fine to any folder I want, and I have sent a couple of albums(mp3), but the only way I can play them is to find them in My Files, and click on individual tracks which is okay but not ideal. There is no music or video in My Music and My Video so I cant track down the right folder that way either, any ideas? Should I post a copy of my XML? Im a total n00b at this so sorry if theres a thread like this in here, I havent seen one.

All you should have to do is:

    FTP to Xbox
    Go to your XBMC Folder
    Then go to Albums
    Then go to Playlist

Now FTP your songs to this folder. And they should show up on your playlist now when you run XBMC

Someone on another forum told me this when I posted my xml file:

[bold]You do not have a matching bookmark for the C:\ drive in Music or Video. You need to add it. Only Pictures and Files has a bookmark to C:\ drive. [/bold]

Heres my xml, is there any chance you could spot the problem and tell me how to fix it, I really dont have a clue:

FTP to the folder I told you to above and place the Music in that folder.

    FTP to Xbox
    Go to your XBMC Folder
    Then go to Albums folder
    Then go to Playlist folder

Transfer your music in the playlist folder!

Thanks, but Ive done that and nothing happens, plus I dont have an actual XBMC folder, when I go into the C: drive with FlashXP all I see is Albums/Credits/Python/Media/Recordings and a load of others, also, when I go into My Music on the actual Xbox and I switch to the files view I dont have the option fo going into any of the drives, my only options are Dreambox, Itunes or Shoutcast, shouldnt I be able to see C: and D: and F:? Does that have anything to do with my previous post where that guy said I was missing a bookmark for the C: drive?

    Ftp to xbox

    Flashfxp instructions
    go to E drive
    go to E:/apps/xbmc or E:/xbmc
go to albums folder located inside the xbmc folder
now ftp your songs to the folder specified.
    Good Luck!

@larrylje-the 'playlist' folder is where the m3u (or whatever the xbox calls them) files are stored....when you make a playlist within your xbox the index is made into a 'm3u' file. Kind of like when you rip a cd and it makes one....same thing. You access them by pressing the black button I beleive.

Also,if papachop can't see his E or F drive (if he has one) I think that is the greater problem. Because if he could, you would just have to create a folder on either the E or F drive called 'music'. Then you would store your mp3's in there. To get to them you would have to just select MUSIC from the main XBMC menu and navigate to the folder.

For the record, what version of XBMC do you have ATM,and you are using it as an app right now right? I'm guessing that evox is your main dash.

Thanks for replying, Ive got the answer to my first question now, there wasnt a bookmark for the C: drive in the music or video section of my .xml, Ive sucessfully edited it now and my albums and videos are showing up okay now (although when I put a .jpg of the album cover in the album folder it doesnt show up on the menu, any ideas why this is happening?)

My version of XBMC is 1.1.0 from March 2005, I havent been able to upgrade because torrents and p2ps are banned on this network in my apartment, any chance of a private message telling me where I could get a newer version as a normal HTML or FTP download? Id be eternally grateful...

Another HTML or FTP download Im looking for is any Xbox emulators, as I have a massive collection of ROMs and Id love to put them on a console, Ive looked everywhere but all i can find is the source code, no binaries...

Another question I wanted to ask was how do I get to the EVOX dash? When I turn the machine on I get the blue Xbox logo with EVOX in the corner but then XBMC loads straight away, Ive looked every where for a place to turn this autorun off but I havent found it, does this mean my EVOX dash been completely removed in favour of XBMC? The machine isnt mine, I got it for a great price ($70) with a 250gb HDD and Ive been having to figure out some very weird settings through trial and error, any help with any of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

evox might be buried in there somewhere, but the default file that you boot to has prolly been switch ed to the xbmc. I really don't know how yours is setup...but it shouldn't matter...xbmc is a great dash.

If you want to put a jpg of the folder art,all you do is rename the jpg to folder and it shoud show up. You must have a version that has been 'tweaked' by someone and re-released...cause I've never come accross a 'release' version with this problem.

So for example I have a folder called "Metallica" and in that folder I have 12 songs and a Metallica.jpg?

Or do you mean I have a list of album folders and in the same folder(Playlists)as those album folders I have a list of .jpgs with the same name as the folders?

    Sorry if thats confusing...

If you have a folder named Metallica and inside there you have your mp3's. You would put the jpg named folder inside. You can do this for each folder of music you have. So inside it would look like

    song1.mp3
    song2.mp3
    song3.mp3
    folder.jpg
