I successfully burned a movie using DVD Decrypter and then DVD Shrink with the option to burn with Nero. It playes great on my DVD player but when I turn on my surround sound system, I get sound but not surround sound. I've checked the forums but I can't find an answer. Can you burn a movie with surround sound? If so, where is the option? I can't find any options in DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. I've also looked in Nero.

I don't have a surround sound system, so to be honest I've never really given this topic much thought. However, it probably just depends on whether the dvd you made a copy of was made using the correct audio format for surround sound or not (this is what Dolby Digital 5.0 is, right?). If it was an older dvd made using an older audio format and wasn't remastered, then that's your problem.

However, if you know for a fact that the original dvd had surround sound, you might have chosen the wrong audio option when using DVD Shrink. Shrink not only allows you to compress the video, but it also allows you to eliminate any audio format that you don't want. Did you possibly eliminate one of the audio formats? If so, it might have been the surround sound one.

That's all I can think of for this problem. I use decrypter/shrink/nero as well, and from my experience, decrypter and nero wouldn't be affecting your audio.

Also, just to be sure, you did go to your dvd menu and change the audio option when you turned on your surround sound system, right?
