Hi all, since i am not having all that luck playing back-ups burning Ridisc minis on Sony burners i am beginning to think that it could all be down to me changing the dvd burner so can some1 plz recommend me a burner that is best suited for gc purpose.

Also where can i download the latest drivers for the burner so i could update the drivers if and when i get the burner.

I have heard that Pioneer/NEC burners are the best but which models?

    Thankx

they have two different type of traxdata offers, which one should i get?

if i purchase 10 pack traxdata minis which are listed at the top of the page, they are the same disks as listed below with jewel cases with them, right?

    @ Biteble:

The link for full sized Ridisc DVD-Rs that you have provided, are not these same as my 8cm Ridisc Minis except for obvious size difference?

Also what DVD burner you use for full size/mini DVD-Rs?

    Thankx

    --Edit--

Would these disks be any good since these have Ritek G04 DYE?

I would assume that the Traxdata's are the same.
I used the ones with the jewel cases, only because I looked on WhiteDogs site and see them there. I never see the tub of 10 until after I had bought the others.

The link to the full size DVD -rs. These are not the same as the mini's you have bought from this man. I am pretty sure the minis are not Ritek G04's where as the full size disk's are.

    I use a Pioneer A106 DVD burner

If you read any of the other posts about what disks to use, nearly everybody says that the G04 dye is the dogs danglies, so I can only assume again, that the disks sold at SVP are good for backing up your games.

Let us know how you get on

Traxdata disk offers contain the same disks as i have done some seraching which show that jewel cases contain the same disk as shown as w/o jewel case.

However i have still got a question, is it Ritek G04 DYE? coz it does say Ritek but no mention of Ritek G04 regarding traxdata.

    Thankx

    --Edit--

A bit more search reveals that these Traxdata 8cm has RITEK W01 DYE type now is that same as G04? i doubt!

Also anyother 8cm Ritek G04 disks as i perfer these over full sized.

    hey stir_fry,

i upgraded my burner and now have re-burned games that didn't work and they work great now! i still have a problem with eternal darkness though. i get random DRE's with it at 8x, 12x doesn't work for it at all. and lower write speeds wont read on my gc.

all the other brands of discs that didn't work before now work!
    LiteOn-1693S is great!!!

    i reccommend this burner

    K, i have just burnt sc-bwars.iso(Batallion Wars) on Ridisc 8cm DVD-R using LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S with Driver Ver: 5.1.2535.0, burnt it on Nero 6.6.0.8 @ 2x.

I know that Ridisc is NOT the recommended media but even then at least the game should load even if the DREs occur.

When i loaded the mini using GCoS Public Beta (Latest) after 'Loading game...' screen, it prompt with a message saying panic!

Can some please tell me if i should update the driver or the firmware for the LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S and where?

    Thankx

As in, you adjusted it to where it'd read back-ups, and that you didn't just set it between 190-215 ohms and expect it to work?

Has it ever read back-ups? If so, how long has it been since you adjusted it?

Someone very kind sent me a Traxdata 8cm DVD-R with Pokemon XD on it, that disk works flawlessly as that disk has DYE type of Ritek G04 i believe.

It's my Ridiscs that dont play very well.

Can someone please link me to a site that sells Ritek G04 DYE type minis cheap?

The only minis that i have found with Ritek DYE are Traxdata but are very expensive or Ridata minis that are not even available in uk.

    Thankx

Okay, so it really is the discs you're using.

You shouldn't be so dead set on one particular dye though, since there are others that are just as good if not better. Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden come to mind.
