I read about the preferred order recently but I can't find the post for the life of me now.

I've got a CD-RW drive and DVD player only drive on the secondary IDE channel. Which should be master/slave for best performance?

I'm assuming the same configuration would also apply to a DVD-RW drive with a regular DVD player only drive, correct?

    Thanks.

as far as performance it shouldn't make a difference, unless you are accessing both drives at the same time

At times both drives are used, or to copy something from the DVD drive directly to the RW drive.

Googling it gave me mixed info, to having the RW drive as master always, to it doesn't matter.

However, this forum has always been where I come for a wealth of info from users, so going with making the RW drive as slave.

A DVD/RW and a DVD player would be set up the same way then, DVD player as master, and the DVD/RW as slave, correct? It will also be used at times to copy directly from the DVD player to the DVD/RW drive.
