I know you cant tell without buying the system but I am going to get one soon. Can anyone tell me which drive is easier to work with to play backups? Believe it or not, I plan to buy my games but my 2 year old took out half my PS2 games.

Samsung used to be easier, but that's no longer the case. Hitachi is easiest now. You just put it in mode b, put the files in the right fold and run the auto flasher. The auto flasher does everything for you including making your firmware backup.

Ive now flashed a samsung and hitachi,
I dont know what the old hitachi way was like but did the samsung with mtkflash and the hiachi with the conectivity kit and gary OPA and found the hitachi a lot easier and quicker than having to do the samsung as there was no Hex edit to get sata working for my mobo.

I've never use USB. I tried and it gave me problems so I never messed with it again. Maybe there's improvements since I tried. Hitachi used to be a lot more of a pain before Gapyopa came out with v1.3. I used 1.2 and you had to keep on doing it over and over until every sector checked and you got 100%.
