Anyone know which drives cant be flashed?? I know the phillips drive cant be flashed, but what about others?? Please provide Drive and versions please.. Thanks
The Hitachi 0078FK drive can now be flashed. You need the Slax 2.0 CD to get Windows to recognise the drive and Maximus Firmware Toolbox 3.0 to flash it. Mine works great.
i find that the drives with a manufacturing date as of november 06 is usually samsung ms28(in canada), still haven't seen the 78k drive yet. but all the knewer boxes are gonna have ms28 or 78k pretty much guaranteed.
he is charging me $40, and I have to drive an hour to get there... I have NFORCE motherboard if that helps.. I think its like an NFORCE4 or something like that..
even if it won;t work with the nforce chipset, it is probably cheaper to buy a pci sata card then give someone 40 dollars and waste one hours worth of gas. plus in the end, you have the pride of doing it yourself and you have the ability to help others too. sorry, i was watching dr. phil earlier.... haha
It's not really that hard to do, but I can see how it can be intimidating for someone. Not everyone feels that comfortable working on computers. I say if you feel comfortable installing a new hard drive in a PC then there's little reason you shouldn't be able to flash a 360. If you don't feel comfortable doing stuff like that then there's no shame in paying someone.
Ya, if your chipset doesn't work, you can just buy a SATA to USB device, for 10 bucks on ebay. I just got mine in today, and I was able to get my drive into ModeB, which I was pretty proud of.
cool which one did you order?? and also should I order the team executer tool thing.... oh and Memnock I definately feel comfortable putting hard drives, RAM, and Processors into PC's..
Just type in ebay "SATA to USB Converter" (without the quotations). It will bring up a list of them. I think they are all the same. It has a SATA cord, then a box, then a USB cord. Before you buy though, check to see where it's shipping from. Most are coming from Hong Kong, and it may take a while to ship. I got mine from a guy in California, and I live in Utah, so it came in 2 days.
all samsung drives can be flashed, read in the forums there tons and tons of information, just need to be searched.
