Hi everyone, my old DVD Burner doesn't work any longer, so I wanted u to give me some suggestions which new burner I should buy. I want a reliable burner that can write DVD+r/rw and/or -r/rw. Writing speed should be at least 4x, but it can of course be higher! I heard Plextor and BenQ are very good and reliable, but which ones of them? I'd be grateful if anyone could give me some advice / suggestion. Moreover, is there anything specific that I have to know before buying a new burner? how can I see if it fits in my PC tower and if it's ok with the PC specifications? hope my english is ok, thx a lot, Ben
Seconded. I was asking the same question here about 2 weeks ago. I tried NEC & Lite-On which were ok, but I ended up selling those drives to friends and ordering the BenQ DW1655. I am very happy with it (I'll probably be getting a 1650 as well whenever newegg gets 'em in stock). In retrospect, I should have listened to catfreaks suggestion and purchased the 1655 first.
See previous thread re: BenQ and NEC sale at Meritline. Both the 1650 and 1655 BenQ are on sale. The NEC 3550a is only $26.99 + shipping after rebate. I got both the BenQ 1650 for $36.99 as well as the NEC. These deals were too good to pass up.
Viva BenQ! 1650! Even the older 1620 and 1640 models are sweet! Especially when you use the utility called qsuite 2.0
