Which DVD recorders w/HD can bypass Program guides?

    My apologies if this question has already been answered. I have no need for a DVD recorder to interface with a cable/satellite system. From what I gather, the program guides are a pain in the ass. Which recorders- with a drive- can bypass the program guides altogether so that I need not worry about my machine trying to update its guide, etc.

    There is a good number of DVD recorders that don't even come with a program guide ... I really like the LiteOn recorders, they are a good value ..
