This may be a subjective thing but I thought I would throw it out there. Ok I have a bunch of movies that I got from a friend. They have been compressed so the images are grainy and pixelated. Which AviSynth filters would you guys recommend? I have been using stuff like undot and deen but I don't think they are strong enough. It seems to happen more during the more complicated parts of the video. Thanks.
Well there are a Few Filters that Can help clean up Some Noise but you will never get rid of all of it... I suggest you try the "FluxSmooth.dll" Filter and the "Convolution3D.dll" as well as the "Undot.dll" filter ,The Convolution3D.dll is the Stronger Filter.... Cheers PS: It is also a Good Idea to use the Sharpen filter after the Noise Filters as the Noise filters will make the Image Loose Sharpness as a Side Effect....
Thanks. I am trying to figure out what everything means with convolution3D (I am still pretty new). I notice the quality on these clips similar to that of a downloaded movie. I would rather it be a bit blurry and with no pixelation than sharp with a bunch of squares.
Hi, For heavy Noise with Convolution3D try this Command: Convolution3d("movielq") Also try this because I believe it is a Built in filter for AVISynth: Temporalsoften(4,8,8,mode=2,scenechange=10) and use this For heavy Noise with the FluXSmooth.dll: FluxSmooth(10,15) You can use any of thses or a Combination of these to try to reduce noise... Also if possible try not to resise to a Larger Resolution as this will make it look worse and if Possible resizeing down will actually increase the clarity of the Image so if you Plan on makeing a DVD From this File maybe Consider useing one of the Other DVD Resolutions instead of the Full D1 720 X 480/576 Resolution like maybe try the 352 X 480/576 or the 352 X 240/288 resolution which might give you a better quality Image..... Really??? Adobe Encore will not make DVD"s other than at 720+480/576??? Sounds Pretty Mickey Mouse to Me as there are actually 4 Different Resolutions Supported by the DVD Standard and each one is Just as Valid as any other one and any DVD authoring program worth it"s Money should support all of them .... You should give DVDLab Pro a Try, It has all the Features of those High end programs and supports all DVD Formats and even a few Non-Standard DVD Formats.... Cheers
Nope, I have been really frustrated with it. I am just not sure I want to start something totally new yet. I don't want to dump it yet because I spent the cash. So I will see what the results of my new video will be.
