Which recommended did you guy set for benq 1640 slave or master? It's ok to setup at slave without loosing any feature or quality???
Hi can anyone here show me how to check to see if my benq dvd burner in master or slave in my computer???
I just put the BENQ DVD BURNER Jumper to Master is that correct and i set my DVD ROM jumber slave is that correct way to do???
I've got my dvd-rom as secondary master and my benq 1640 set as secondary slave. I've had them both ways and nothing changed,performance wise.
I'm not sure what you mean by jumper. Here are the steps. 1)There are these little things in the back of the drives, sometimes are colored to help you other times they are just black, they are rectangle in shape and have a small hole to plug into the back. I'd say they are about 1/4 a centimeter in length. unplug that and put it into appropriate alot. 2)Make sure you have the right part of the IDE cable (flat wires) plugged into your burner. Get the LiteOn SOHW-1693S, best burner out there for me, i have one and no errors ever, quiet, fast, and not picky at all, even though i only use RITEK(RiData and few Dynex). No probs with burnt DVD's or CD's, play in my DVD player and PS2 better than fine. Also has booksetting option too, comes with it. Very reliable. It also burns both types of DVD DL, yours only burns one.

glueater...the liteon booktype utility that mort linked you to does NOT work on your 1693S either??? it works just fine on MINE...and i also DO KNOW that creaky wasn't having too much luck with it either...very strange... docTY~

@ mort my bad, i didn't read the other thread completely~ lol~ but, yes...how r u doing good buddy, ole' pal? when it comes to booktyping utilities, i bow down to YOUR experience and knowledge in this field...it WAS you that introduced me to EEPROM back in the days remember? and i am STILL grateful for that thank you~ well, it SHOULD work for him, well, in theory, at least it does for ME~ haha have a good one my friend, the EEPROM settings work a charm on MY setups at home, whether it be decrypter or these other utilities made by the manufacturers...i've had very good success with them~ docTY~

Gas about the same here. I have Randy Moss on my fantasy team and everytime I play him he sucks. Only a lousy 2 points today. He's on the bench from now on. Just watch, he'll get 3 touchdowns against the chiefs next week and I'll have him benched. *_* Ok back on topic.
another vote goes to BENQ 1640, the 1640 is my 2nd benq dvd burner and its been working awesome so far.
As far as the LiteOn/BenQ thing ... Sony USED to rebadge LiteOn drives but the latest and by far the greatest Sony drive is a rebadged BenQ DW1640 Also .. Plextor, a well respected player in the DVD writer game, rebadges a DW1640 also ...
