I'm working on a CD I want to distribute mostly to Realtors. It will have an 18 minute video (ripped from a DVD)another 2 minute commercial already in mpg format, and the company jingle (1 minute) which is presently in mp3 format. I have it set up to play the different files from a menu (I used CD Menu Pro). Right now I converted the video files to avi Cinepak codec. The mp3 I left as is. What is the most universal format to use for these three files? Keep in mind I need it to fit on a single CD-R. And I would love it if it would play on a DVD player as well as CD-ROM.
the most universal i can think of is mpeg 1. a 233mhz pc can play it with no hiccups. thats like 20 minutes of video. easily fits into 1 cd even at 3000kbps
I did one file mpeg1 (180 MB) and an avi (240 MB) with the Cinepak codec and the quality is much better with the avi file. Would some machines have trouble playing the avi/Cinepak? Did I do something wrong when making the mpeg1? Should the quality be equal being that the sizes are about the same? Any tips for making a better avi. I used the default settings in Amigo DVD Ripper for both files.
AVI wouldnt play on most DVD Players. You could encode to VCD but not all players play that either, most do though! http://www.afterdawn.com/articles
I'm having problems getting VCD to utorun. Also my brand new Samsung DVD-P341 won't play a friggin VCD so I can't even readily test it.
VCD's should autorun in a standalone but not so much a PC, but if they are using XP then it will give the option to play the disc!
If there's room on the cd is it possible to combine the two? Would the computer read the ini file and DVD player read the dat file and play it?
.dat files are used for a hell of a lot of programs and stuff, so it may have a bad response on a certain computer! Im sure u could add an inf file onto the cd using VCDEasy or something!
