    hey
ive just started into the gamecube modding scene
but im looking to buy a mod chip
ive been looking at the differences between the two chips(quoob pro and viper xtreme)and they have about the same features
the only thing is that it seems to me that the quoob pro has a much better bios and is more for people not looking to use it to back up and rip games
i dont plan on using my mod chip to rip games but which one is better just to use for the bios and the mp3 and ability to play dvd's etc.?

The viper is more popular so if you need help you can find it easier, I don't know about the movies.

If you aren't going to rip games, it doesn't matter what chip you get since I expect Viper to fix their BIOS eventually. However, if you want a good BIOS now and don't wish to wait, get the qoob Pro. The only difference is ViperGC Extreme's ability to rip games using USB, other than that they offer the same exact features hardware wise.

GameCubes can't read retail movie DVDs since they aren't designed to. You'd need a Panasonic Q to do that.

However, you could get a hold of that DivX player for GC and use that after doing the necessary conversions.

Also, qoob Pro has a mp3 player application floating around the net. ViperGC Extreme can't play mp3s by default.

Only the Panasonic Q can read DVD movies, normal GameCubes can't...

That's why I suggested converting it to DivX and watching that instead.

You could flash the DivX player, but not the DivX movie files since the flash memory is only like, 2 megabytes (16 megabits). That's for both the qoob Pro and ViperGC Extreme.

You'd have to burn the movies if you wanted to watch them. You might be better off just using a normal DVD player so you won't have to convert movies so often.

What I'm saying is that you can flash the DivX player to qoob Pro's onboard memory and then watch DivX compatible videos using a DVD-R.
