I'm not sure exactly what type of problem I'm having making backups with DVD Shrink. I updated the firmware on my burner (or at least I think I did) and I used some decent media. I had Nero 6 and I'm guessing that maybe I should get a new one. I tried using a trial version of Nero 9 and Shrink said that Nero would have to be installed. I'm lost as to what's wrong. The burner you have is still not liking the DVDs you're using so try another brand. Try starting your burns at 4x You could also use more physical memory, but in the mean time, try increasing your page file to three times the amount of your physical memory (512k x3). Nero 6 is fine, stay away from 9.
dump shrink & use dvdfab it's free,the only real advantage of shrink over fab is the front & end cutting other than that shrinks a waste of hdd space,if you want an updated version of shrink you'd need nero recode,fab has it's own burning engine or if your not comfortable with that use nero to do the files
Which paging file would I increase? The C drive or my external drive? I tried doing it but nothing happened.
Increasing the page file will make no difference,you've got 253mb free. Physical memory : 510MB (523260kB) Free physical memory: 253MB (259580kB) Dump shrink as it was suggested and use dvd fab. Any running tasks in the background turn off before you burn the disk i.e anti virus etc,anything down by the clock right click and close. Image burn is free and worth a try.
It's a wonder shrink works at all with only 500mb at your disposal..lol.. Pagefile moved to another drive increases performance,however it's best placed on an internal slave drive not an external,so if you don't have an internal slave hdd just increase pf on c like killalot says shutdown as many unnecessary programs as you can,ccleaner can be used for that as it has a startup button under tools & you can temporarily "disable" some programs on reboot,be careful not to hit the "delete" button by accident..lol..
You sure? Shrink has been around for many years, long before folks had lots of memory. I've used in many times in the past with only 512MB of RAM.
Seventeen MB to spare before running off the edge and Shrink defaults to 4464. I would reset Shrink to a 4300 before anything else.
power calibration error people.. that's a 5 year old burner. my ND-3550 will play games at 8x on 16x disks.. try 4x
