Okay, so I want to get into XBOX 360 firmware upgrades but my motherboard does not have the SATA ports on it. I was wondering if anyone knew a good PCI SATA Card that works for flashing the drive. Maybe they all work but I haven't gotten confirmation on that. If you know of one, can you please provide a link as to where I can purchase it? Also, the hacking tutorial I have says "WARNING: IF you are going to connect your 360 and PC together in any way, then you must provide the 360 with a path to true earth ground. This is because the 360 has a floating ground and horrible things happen if all connected systems do not agree on the regerence voltage. I used a couple of croc clips from the chassis of the 360 to the chassis of my PC to achieve this." Can someone please translate what the hell this means and if it is indeed necessary? I have never done a 360 mod but it seems easy enough, I just want all my questions answered before I go ahead and give this a try. Thanks to all who will respond.
Hitachi Drives - SIL3112 http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ADAPTEC-ASH...ryZ39967QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Samsung Drives - Alot of chipsets. But here's one. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815124006
I don't know of any chipset that is 100% confirmed working with both drives. Take some roach clips, speaker wire, whatever you can that is conductive and run it from a piece of metal from your 360 case to a piece of metal to your pc. This grounds the 360 and prevents you f'ing your system up due to a power surge.
What is the chipset on this card? -- From the picture on their webpage it looks like a sil3112... Which is listed on multiple sites as a non-working (NO hexedit Code) PCI-SATA card.
