I am trying to build a computer system that is primarly for copying movies cds and mp3s. Which processor is better ? The intel 775 cpu or the amd athlon 64 as far as fast and accurate copying is concerned? Is there any known issues using dvd decrypter or dvd shrink with the amd processor ? I looked at the way the intel 775 motherboard is designed and i am not impressed by the cpu mounting pins mounted on the mother board. IT'S REALLY DISAPPOINTING THAT INTEL DOES EVERYTHING SO CHEAP NOW DAYS. let's see................ isn't the amd athlon 64 a conventional cpu that has the mounting pins mounted on the cpu and is it any more fragile than the intel 478 ?
if you are just planning on copying movies and cds, and ripping mp3s, than intel or amd really isn't going to make that big of a difference. As long as you get a relatively fast one, either will work fine. I have an AMD 2200 o/clocked to 2600, and there are no issues with decrypter or shrink.
your in the wrong forum try other pc hardware below. has nothing to do with cheapness as i worked on sun microsystem boards that used pinless cpus 5 years ago. they're trying to shorten the distance between the cpu & other components to reduce cross talk & go faster
What’s that fly doing in my teleport?!?!?! <G> chesty I have one more option. How about an Intel Northwood Chip instead of Intel Prescott? If not then I would recommend staying with AMD. Do some research about heat issues with the new Prescott chips. Then make your decision. But always remember that opinions are just like A**'s, everybody has one! <G> Good luck with your build!
i agree with Scuba, either go with a Northwood chip from intel, or go with AMD Athlon 64 it will be enough for you....
