Hoping for the best advice here. I am trying to put together various videos in different formats (avi, wma, rm, mpeg) onto one DVD WITH a menu that does NOT need chapter selections within each movie but DOES need a menu simply to navigate to different movies. I have experience burning DVDs to avi using DVDDecrypter and Vidomi, but I stopped doing that since I got a DVD burner, and now I usually just use DVDDecrypter and DVD Shrink to burn DVDs to DVD+R. So I am not a COMPLETE novice. But I am far from an expert. That said, I've been reading around and have heard various types of advice from using DVD Santa, TMPGEnc, DVDLab, AVI2DVD, WinDVD, ViaDVD, VirtualDub, Nero, Ulead, etc., etc., etc., and my problem now is I have NO clue which method will work best for me, or even at this point, how to distinguish one method from another, as they all seem to start blending into one another. I think I am on overload. Here are my simple concerns: 1 - Price - I would RATHER not spend over $100 on software. All my previous burning activities have been free, but I am willing to spend up to $100 on this one. 2 - Usability - I don't know much about writing scripts, and I am not a techie. I am also not stupid and not technologically challenged. I CAN learn. I am not sure if it is worth the investment in learning a complex program for my simple needs, or if I am simply better off using a simpler program, but I can learn new tricks if necessary. 3 - Time - I'd rather something that doesn't take 12 hours to re-encode all video sources to one advised type, then re-encode all sound files to one recommended format, then organize them in menus to be put on the DVD, and finally burn. I understand I may have to complete all these steps, and perhaps even more steps, but I really would rather do it within 3-4 hours IF possible. If not, I'll spend the 12 hours, I suppose...... 4 - Comprehensiveness - I'd like a method that can handle my simple but specific needs - integrate various file types, audio file types, create menus (though not necessarily chapters), and burn disc, in a fairly simple, step by step process. 5 - Tutorial - I am hoping for a link to a tutorial that shows how to accomplish what I'm trying to do here, step by step, hopefully with screenshots (not NECESSARY, but a HUGE help) NOTE: my sources are mostly pretty poor quality, so overall quality is not THE BIGGEST consideration, although it still matters, for some of my better quality sources. So guys, what can you tell me about my chances?? Am I being too demanding or is this doable? If anyone can clear this up for me, I can't tell you what a help they'd be being...... In advance, a huge thanks to whoever even TRIES to help this stranded soul, *****And lastly, I've read a TMGEnc guide on Afterdawn.com that LOOKS pretty good, but it doesn't say whether TMPG will accept files with different aspect ratios, screen resolutions, etc., and if it won't, how to STANDARDIZE these settings across various different types of video files (divX, avi, wma, mpeg) BEFORE starting up TMGEnc. If anyone can answer this question, that would be just as helpful***** Mudrubble
