Hey I have using SLIDE CARD with the SWAP MAGIC 2.0 on my PS2 for about a year now and it suddenly broke. I don't know if its the SLIDE CARD fault or SONY LASER PROBLEMS fault. Well anyways I have 4 questions.
    1. What do you think cause my PS2 to break? Slide Card or Sony's Lens Problem???
    2. How much and Where Can I repair it? I took the warranty sticker out to open the PS2 and see whats wrong with it already but it didnt help.
    3. Should I get a refurbished PS2 on Gamestop? What if the lens break again? What's Refurbished? It is when the PS2 breaks and they repair it and sell it again?
    4. Is the Slim PS2 better that the ORIGINAL PS2? How about the lens? Will they break like the original? Will I be able to us my Slide Card and Swap Magic 2.0 on the Slim PS2?

PLease Help if you have any information. Thanx.

1.) Depends on what the problem is does the disk tray still open and close or does the laser start clicking when trying to load a game. look on the back of your ps2 and tell me what version ps2 you have.

2.) If the lasers ticking or not reading games it very well might be the ps2 laser. Does it read DVD's and cd's

3.) refurbished means it was either repaired or someone took it back becuase they just didnt want it.

4.) The best lasers are in the V9, V10 ps2s aka 50001 the lasers below those ps2s 30001, 39001 have the crappy lasers. All the slim ps2s have good lasers. As far as using the swap magic discs I think it is easier to use it on the fat ps2s. Hope this information helps

not enough information to answer that one.

    2. How much and Where Can I repair it? I took the warranty sticker out to open the PS2 and see whats wrong with it already but it didnt help.
there are various repair shops online if you search, i have seen them for as low as $45 to fix them, and return shiping was included

    3. Should I get a refurbished PS2 on Gamestop? What if the lens break again? What's Refurbished? It is when the PS2 breaks and they repair it and sell it again?
with refurbished you never know what you are getting. Unless you know it was refurbished by a reputable shop or by Sony i would not.

    4. Is the Slim PS2 better that the ORIGINAL PS2? How about the lens? Will they break like the original? Will I be able to us my Slide Card and Swap Magic 2.0 on the Slim PS2?

I have both kinds and i would not say one is better than the other. And by most people's opinions the V7 is the best, i have had my V7 for years and it still works great. If you are going to buy one you really only have a few choices.
    1. an old PS2 that someone "fixed"
    2. a new slim PSTwo which you can mod.
    3. A premodded slim PSTwo with a good chip & laser fix (DMS4 or Matrix Infinity) http://www.xmodd.com

and update your version of Swap Magic, 2.0 is not only outdated but has many more compatability problems than the newer versions.
