I know you can play PS2 games on the 60GB model what about the 40GB and 80GB models? If not, the only PS3's that are the 20GB and 60GB right?
There are already quite a few threads about this. 60GB and 20GB-Emotion engine-best emulation 80GB and 60GB Euro-Modified processor to emulate emotion engine-not as good of emulation 40GB-no emulation
The 80GB plays almost all PS2 games, but the 60GB and 20GB versions have the actual PS2 processor hardware in it. The 40GB is the only one that cannot play PS1 or PS2 games.
i went and bought the the 20gb pack but they didnt have it in stock so i got the 40gb purely to put a much bigger hard drive in it becausei heard you could, lol i got home and what was written on the side in bold? THIS CONSOLE CANNOT PLAY PS2 AND PS GAMES One word DEVASTATION
I know this thread is old but I just caught a read of it through a link from another thread... The 40gb PS3 can play PS1 games but can not play PS2 games as we already know. I have tried some old PS1 games and they play fine straight from the disc (doesn't have to be downloaded from www.playstation.com).
