Okay. So I have the two different types of PS2's:

    Sliver Slim - SCPH-77001, Date Code 7A
    Black fatty - SCPH-50001, Date Code 3D

The black one I have had troubles with in the past. It didn't read CD's at all. Someone fixed it for free and works fine now..

I'm definately going with the flip-top method for Swap Magic, but I'm just not sure which one to do. Also, which version of Swap Magic should I use?

    Thanks for any help.

The flip top method is very convenient.

I am only familiar with Swap Magic 3.6, so I will not go ahead and recommend v3.8 because I know nothing about it.

swapmagic will work for both consoles. anything above 3.6 is great
doing the fliptop is probably easier on slim. you could make a slidecard for fatty out of a credit card video

Well I have swap magic and flip for my Ver 7 but if you wanted you could get swap magic and keys for the slim.. Then create a Free MCboot exploit and run ESR on the fat PS2 or Both..

http://www.sksapps.com/ will help with installing Free McBoot and ESR
