Hello I have several m4v files and want to make a DVD-R that plays with a menu screen (allows a choice) on a DVD player. Which software will work the best in quality of the burn and easy to work with for a newbie ? Sort of like playing a TV series and choosing which episode to watch on a DVD is what I mean by a menu screen. Also need step by step instructions on how to complete the above. Thanks

Including Save as DVD folder, Save as image (.iso), when DVD device is detected, you can check it to save files in DVD disc. Folder: Click the Destination - Folder drop list and then click Choose … to set the destination. Tips: The default output directory is / Users/ user/ Movies, and click Reveal In Finder could open the path. Step 5: Start to burn DVD Click the Burn DVD Now button and then progress bar pops up. Tips: You are unable to operate other functions temporarily, before the completion of burning. Step 6: Finish burning DVD After the burning is done, it will be deleted form burning list, and then added to Task- History- Burned list.
Kigo might work just fine if the OP happens to own a Mac PC, but since he didn't indicate it, I'm going to assume that he's running Windows. VSO's convertx to DVD works on Windows PC's but it's been a couple of years since I've tried it. Download a trial from VSO's website and check to see if it does what you want it to do., but it's your best bet.
convertx will convert any format and put it on dvd, very fast too, (shouldnt say this, but available on torrent sites for nada and up to date)

I just tried Freemake to check it out and no sooner had I downloaded it when Norton's flagged it as unsafe. Not to be deterred I restored it and began installing it using custom installation and it indicated additional installations so I cancelled. Then I tried a third time to see what the reaction would be and Norton's identified sape.heur.d2d91 which is designated as a high risk virus. It's quite probably an ad or malware installer so I think a little more research is in store before rushing out to get this one.
sorry, that's my bad! the exe is ok, it has a stupid toolbar included in the installation (just deny all the pop ups when installing) it is a really good app. I'm pretty sure there is an offline version that omits the included junk, google should find it.
The first attempt I did reject all the add ons, but when I click next it went to a screen explaining why they had added software, and the software was still there to be installed, so closed the application. Then ran it again and made the same choices but by the time I got to the screen Norton's flagged it for a virus so I closed it and deleted it. So my advice is to install at your own risk. I'm not afraid of viruses because removing them from machines used to be part of my job, but a virus such as a smitfraud will hide copies all over your machine, disable your PC protections, and take hours to remove.
M4V is MP4 all you do is change the extension.dvdstyler may be able to do what you want as it allows menu creation
If he changes the extension from M4V to Mp4 it should play but he's likely to lose A3C Dolby sound which is common with M4V files.
You'll most probably find your thinking of playback on a iphone or ipod or some device of apple that doesn't know what to do with AC3 encoded audio in an mp4 container.i did do a quick search to what you refer to but didn't find anything apart from mp4 avc does the encoding for m4v (when comming from apple store) edit: so long as passthrough is used as the setting for audio the OP should be able to get 1:1 onto the dvd
Yes M4V files can also playback on portable apple devices but they are probably most often used on computers. Changing the extension will allow most but not all M4V files to play as an Mp4 but to make it an Mp4 it would still require file conversion. I'm not certain what any of this has to do with the original post which was about converter to DVD format. I would convert them to Mp4 and then leave them as they are since they're probably already in a higher quality format than mpeg2, but that's just me.
Give BD Rebuilder a try. Just keep in mind, if these .m4v files are DRM-protected, nothing will work as these programs do not remove DRM.
I have used Freemake for years and it's always worked like a charm. Anyway, I have a similar question to the OP's. I have a few video files that I want to convert to DVD. These video files have more than one audio channel and a few subtitle tracks. I would like to make the DVD with all these audio channels and subtitles. Back in the day I used DVD Flick and it worked just fine, even though the compression was not the best. I noticed a lot of pixelation. Do you know of any software that can also do this? An improved version of DVD Flick, maybe? Thanks!
It's been a while since I've converted video files to DVD but I believe that VSO software's ConvertXtoDVD is about as good as it gets for the purpose. It's a commercial software, but you can try (watermarked) before you buy. There's not much out there in the freeware market these days so the pickings are quite slim.

There really aren't any other applications out there that is capable of doing a complete job, and I don't think there are any better than ConvertX. Now if you know how to use command line and work with AviSynth then anything is possible but most people find it a little too challenging. The market is no longer there for movie backups and transcoding like it was about a decade ago when a lot of the software used to accomplish it was created. Good luck!
Freemake has malware. You can give DVD Creator a try. It lets you burn any kind of video sources to playable DVD including M4V video files. It can create DVD based on disc volume (DVD5 or DVD9), TV system (NTSC or PAL), display ratio (16:9 or 4:3), video quality, etc.
