My Acoustic Solutions is too fussy to be worthwhile. I'm looking to replace it with something that RELIABLY plays other/cheaper DVD-Rs. I'm open to suggestion team. Any experiences appreciated.

Sony DVP-NS305 (plays everything I have [bold]EVER [/bold] thrown at it).
Plays DVD-R [Bulkpaq Purple] , doesn't get any cheaper in the media stakes!

If in doubt though , check here for DVD Player compatibility http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

as for DVD player.. I suggest you try to go to your local ChinaTown electronic shop and try to buy from there...

most made in China DVD player are region free and gear toward reading copied DVD's .... after all .. China is a major pirating country. hheehe

I bought the Sony. It plays everything including the old Bulqpaq 1st generation disks I bought a year ago for 50p ea. Just as Herbsman said it would

If you are having problems playing disk, guess what? Its not your burner, its not your disks, its your player. 100% satisfaction with the Sony.
