I'm very new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated. I just purchased a new Toshiba laptop with a built in CD/DVD burner. I want to "backup" my favorite movies by burning copies of them. Unfortunately the program "Intervideo WinDVD creator for Toshiba", that came with the laptop, will not recognize any movies or such that is inserted into the drive. I can watch them but I imagine some type of incription code or something is needed to copy the files and then burn them to DVD. So what is the best way of going about doing this? Also, to complicate matters, I watch DVDs on my X-Box. I'm sure this makes a diference in some way(s). If anyone would like to help me out I would be very thankful.
With the laptop not seeing the dvd I'm not 100% sure but a program like anydvd(free trial) or dvd43(free) might help. As for watching movies from your xbox, I do the same thing and I use the verbatim dvd-r(movie reel lookin' ones) and they work fine but I might check in the xbox forums for a little more info on that. Cause I'm not sure if the version of your xbox makes a difference cause my first xbox was a 1.4 and played everything burnt cds, burnt dvds but my new box is a 1.6 with a different dvd drive and it only plays burnt dvds. good luck.
