Hi All, I have a pc which I recently got from my workplace as they were upgrading their computers but as you might imagine, the hardware is a little old and I bought a few pc games which some of them are ok working on my Sony vaio laptop but I would prefer them on my desktop simply because of hard drive space but they won't work on my desktop pc as the graphics card is not good enough. My question is which video cards are available that meet the spec of pc games like Crysis 3, Fifa 2013, Formula 1 2012, Assassins Creed Revelations etc. all mainly new games and some old ones too. Also, I don't want to spend a small fortune ona part for the desktop, just want to get something that would meet and maybe slightly exceed the spec required by the above mentioned games. Thanks.
HP Compaq, I think it's an old DC7700, the model label has been scratched so can't read it. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, I have Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Mac OS X Lion installed on it but have been trying the games on Windows 7. The computer has a stock motherboard, not sure which, will need to do a bit more investigating. Hope that helps. Oh, and it has 2250mb ram (2 x 1gb cards and 1 x 250mb card). Thanks.
look at #8 & #10. also make certain the riser card is not there as interferes placement of videocard in video slot.
then maybe not all good. check to see if a standard size psu will fit into your case & if does then look for 500 watt plus psu for your case.
i got told hd 7000 series is great for gaming.currently using a hd4550 and have a bit of lag myself. as ddp is pointing out you might need to upgrade the psu.
I am looking to get a new psu and graphics card as well, do you think that this graphics card would be ok? Also, I would like to know what exact psu to get as I have been looking all morning and cant find one to fit because the one in the dc7700 kind of looks tailored for that particular model. Thanks.
Here is an eBay listing for a dc7700 power supply (the same type i have) and I can't seem to find one same shape with higher than 240w max output.
according to this link http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine you need a 256w psu for that videocard that i have in 2 of my computers.
