who else got hit by a ban hammer ? (Ban Wave or Ban Puddle - you decide)

my buddy just got hit by a ban hammer 2 hours ago.
and he updated about 6 hours ago.
but he can't tell if it's the update because he burned a game called prototype and just started playing it a few hours ago.
so he said it might be a bad rip or the update.. he doesn't know.
but he knows he's pissed off.
anyone one else got hit by a ban hammer recently?

 

MS is having issues with XBOX Live.

 

no it's not the issue.
he checked the y or z code or whatever and it's a ban.
it also says the console is banned for violating terms of use.

If it's true, we'll know very soon.

However, I am leaning more towards leerage being right and MS having issues than your friend being the first person to give the internet wind of a new ban wave.

 

Nothing out there yet.. On the timescale of previous update-ban cycles there are about 2 more weeks to go before we see heaps.

 

Last ban wave, Nov 08, was the only one I've been around for. That one happened before the NXE update.

 

Well, I have an xbox that has played non-stealthed backups on ix 1.4 up until two months ago, no ban yet even after the update. Hopefully this isn't a ban wave or i'll be hit

 

I signed into Live no problem. Went to test my connection and on the side it said XBOX Live is experiencing difficulties. That is why I said that last night. You might want to double check.

most likely it was just network issue with connecting to xbl, or him actually using a bad rip. It's not a hammer dropping. Don't spread this paranoia.

We don't want to deal with 50 threads asking if there is a ban wave.

he was banned for sure.
a simple network issue won't state that his xbox is banned for violating terms of use.
but it looks like he got banned because of a bad rip, not because of the update.
he wasn't sure if he used abgx before he burned, so he checked the dvd itself with abgx and it's giving error reports.
so it looks like it was a bad rip that got him banned.

 

by the way, the game was 'prototype' he downloaded off some torrent site.
so if you are downloading this game, be sure to fix it with abgx.

I wouldn't even call it a puddle. Maybe more like a ban rain drop.

 

Well it doesn sound like a "wave" to me. I guess that if there were a wave, we would know it, there would be chaos on the streets, the dead would walk on the earth... the sort of stuff.

So far, what happen in this cases sounds more like a "random ban" (nothing personal dude ^^) if even there is such thing.
