When I try to put AVI files of 400mb (45mins) each on a 4.7gb blank dvd, I can only get 2 on. Why is this? How can I squeeze more files on?
AVI files are compressed files when you convert them to Video Compliant files they will inflate. A standard disk will only hold 4.3g of video or 2 hours, if you want to get more on the disk then you need to compress the Video using DVD Shrink. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP WITH SHRINK.pdf http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm
If you want to keep the files in AVI format, just go with Nero and click on "Make Data DVD".Once the window opens, just add the desired files and down you'll see a bar indicating the used and remaining space on your empty DVD.Like this, you will be limited to the total size of the files you have added(total of approx.4500mb)instead of the duration of playback(approx.2 hours).
