Hi – wonder if you can help me with a dma/crc error.

I’m using quite an old machine, running XP – it’s a Pentium 3, with 256 ram running at 864 Mhz. It did have a cd player and a cd re-writer. I’ve just bought a Liteon 18x DVD rewriter. I took the CD player out and replaced it with the DVD rewriter. As per the instructions, I set the DVD re-writer at the end of the wide multi section cable (IDE cable) – which was where the cd player was. Installation instructions suggested making the dvd rewriter the Master and the other drive the slave. I did this (this reversed the scenario I had when using the cd-rewriter and cd-player). I connected the audio and power, closed the box and booted up. Everything appeared fine.

I have been trying to burn DVD-video files onto the disc. I’ve been successful once out of about 10 times. The same error occurs and I really don’t know what I should be doing to correct it. Any help possible? The fail log is pasted below. Thanks.

    Hi pwrrwp
1st thing - edit out the serial # in the log - begins w/ 4C.
Don't need someone else using it.

    Nero Version: 7.2.3.3
Nero can update an update - plus it's not fully recognizing the new LiteOn. It shows it as this - Connected to MMC as unknown drive with class-nr : 1
Drive is autodetected - recorder class: Std. MMC recorder

    The latest Nero is 7.5.0.9a

We're both cd drives working ok just before you swapped one with the LiteOn?
Did you change the jumper pins on both drives to match how they're connected on the ide cable?

Try uninstaling the ide channel (secondary) in device manager - no go then uninstall the burner in device manager.
Here's a guide for DMA but you can follow this instructions on how to uninstall.

    Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. AE1
Not the best discs by far. Better would be Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.

Here's another good free burning program to try also if the above suggestions don't help - ImgBurn
You would use the build mode to burn the video files.
