    This is from an SRT file that is meant to be the english subtitles for L' Assualt.

    This is how it looks in notepad....

    1
    00:00:05,153 --> 00:00:10,953
    <b><font color="#ffff00">JimmyBG28 Âè ïîæåëàâà
    ïðèÿòíî ãëåäàíå!</font></b>

    2
    00:00:28,719 --> 00:00:32,219
    <i><b><font color="#ff0000">Ôèëìúò å ñúçäàäåí
    ïî äåéñòâèòåëåí ñëó÷àé</font></b></i>

    3
    00:02:41,446 --> 00:02:44,581
    <i><b><font color="#ff0000">ÍÀÏÀÄÅÍÈÅÒÎ</font></b></i>

    4
    00:03:19,860 --> 00:03:23,420
    Åìà?
    - Êðèåì ñå.

    5
    00:03:26,340 --> 00:03:29,620
    Åìà? Êúäå ëè ñà?

    6
    00:03:32,860 --> 00:03:34,940
    Èìà ëè íÿêîé òóê?

    7
    00:03:35,540 --> 00:03:38,180
    Èìà ëè íÿêîé â êúùè?

    8
    00:03:39,060 --> 00:03:42,660
    Êàê äà ãè íàìåðÿ?

    I have tried saving as ANSI and UTF-8 but to no avail.

    Anyone know why it isnt working right?

    Thanks.

    You can try opening the original .srt file in Microsoft Word and see if it can detect the encoding - or if you use Firefox, just drag it onto the window, click 'View' > 'Character Encoding' and select one of the types to see if it can make a match.
    If Word can correct it, save it as unicode - If Firefox shows it ok, copy and paste into NotePad and save.
    Other than that, I can't offer anything except try for a different source.

    This is an example of a Greek sub that was detected in Firefox.

    Hi kassysimon,

    Why not download New English Subtitles instead of messing around with these. Your current Subtitles most likely are in some ODD language that your software does not recognize.

    Here are two links to get you going ...

    These might not be the exact match ... but at least you are heading in the right way.

    Thanks,

    G! :)
