What they're doing isn't as bad as what other people do when they download games they don't own...

Well some people have a collection of about 30+ games with a brother that they don't trust to handle the games...maybe that's why...

That's piracy...and you'll notice the effects later on when talented teams are forced to close down because people are just downloading their games instead of going out to the store and buying them...they have families to feed and bills to pay...

Do you have no respects to the hard working developers?

copying a game you didnt purchase is illegal. it is still piracy when youre buying a game from someone who illegally copied it. if someone stole a stereo from a store and sold it to you... you will get in trouble too for that stolen radio. if you have a copy that you did not buy the original of, its piracy... regardless of who already has it.

with that note, i also think its foolish to think that people will care who theyre ripping off. i personally am a developer for a computer software company (which im not going to say which)... but even i am guilty of having used ripped off software in the past. people will continue to use stolen games, its a matter of a fact. but people who do, shouldnt rationalize it in their heads. what they do IS theft. if that is okay with you, then fine by me... but if you have to say its not theft to make it okay for yourself, maybe you need to think about what youre doing. im not condeming those who do... just those who deny it.

meh..if u own the original u can back it up for personal use selling it then is piracy or even giving it away

I have a different view of things... if u go to a library ... there are many copyrighted books to be found there, and yet there is a photocopying machine made for the purpose of copying the books right in the middle of the place, it doesnt matter that it would take a long time to photocopy an entire book, its still legal to do it if u want... and in someways... the internet is like a giant library

not quite... it is not legal to copy certain books, such as text books, or books containing sheet music. but that is an interesting way of looking at it.

Buying backups of anything you don't own, whether it's released or not is PIRACY.
