I have a PS2 version 7 with a magic 2 chip.I have many different backups DVD-R and CD-R. They all boot up ok but 2 or 3 are in black and white for some reason. Does anybody know the reason for this and can they suggest a way to get them to play in colour.
I guess you are using a SCART lead (in europe?). My ps2 did this after I put a messiah in it, but only with ps2 `BACKUPS`. I tried it with a playstation 1 VCD adaptor lead and it works in colour with that. I got the VCD adaptor for the playstation with the lead from www.zoodirect.co.uk . You could try it with the RF tv lead, that might work. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
Cheers for the reply, I'm using an aerial lead from my old PS1 (an RFU adaptor SCPH-10072 B) because the one supplied with my PS2 was for a tv with a scart which I haven'nt got on my TV. It is weird because I have other back-ups that work fine. Any other suggestions would be most welcome.
Well it seems you are not alone i have about 6 of them and the reason seems to be because they are ntsc.I have a model 7 with a magic 3 installed it plays ntsc games in black and white and pal in color. Why it dosnt seem to be ntsc compatible with color is beyond me when you consider they have a had a color correction chip for psx1 a long time now."Slightly confused"
Thanks for the reply, but can anybody explain what the difference is between pal and ntsc. Is there anyway of getting the backups to play in colour or is it just a case of getting backups that were pal originals in the first place and do the same games come in pal and ntsc. If any of this makes sense to somebody please let me know it will be much appreicated.
can you message me via yahoo messenger or msn messenger? nick virusag13. I can help distro it as my computers are always on.
Well to answer a couple of the questions you asked most games get released as ntsc and pal.The difference between ntsc & pal is the frequency they run at eg. Pal runs on 50hz cycle and Ntsc runs on 60 hz cycle. Also resolution is slightly different (but not much) pal=352x288 ntsc =320x240. And finally framerate is different pal =25 fps ntsc =29.97 fps,These are the standards for the televisions we use.I hope this helps clarify it for you .
I have found the solution to the problem. By using a RGB scart lead it eliminates the black and white picture and turns it colour hoorah!!!!
I got a ps2 with a mod chip i have serveral games that play in colour but some flicker in black and white. Can anyone help me?
The problem seems to be your tv set. I have several ntsc backups, which work perfelctly fine on my tv, but when I play them on others they don't seem to show any colour. voila
