Ok I'm unsure exactly why verbatium DVD+R DL are so great. I have read the forums that say people have had just as much success with cheaper brands and people have said that you can burn to the cheaper brands but they will harm your dvd drive, I should point out that this is in referance to xbox 360 backup disks, but I think it is still more of a question for this board.

If it matters at all the drive I have in my 360 is a TS-943A MS25 I have it flashed already (with 1.61 iXtreme) done that yesterday and the drive I will be using to burn will be a ATAPI DVD DH16AASH and using Imgburn, this does not support booktyping setting to ROM so I know if I burn games with it they will have the 360 banned from LIVE which doesn't bother me in the slightest. Does anybody know where I could get new firmware for my ATAPI DVD DH16AASH I think if I buy verbaitum then I will buy the ones from singapore that may need newer firmware.

If this is in the wrong board I appoligize now.

    Run ImgBurn:

"Tools > Drive > Check for Firmware Updates..."

i use the cheapest possible blanks.i know dvd players and computer dvd burners arnt fussy about the type of media you use not to sure about xbox 360's.apparently copied disks are not good for the laser in video game systems.

Thanks well just had a look got 389 results so no idea which one to use and not brave enough to flash without more of an idea using SA15 at the moment.

Some Google time required I think.

Or just fork out for a decent burner most likly.

    Thanks for the answer though.

Yeah seems that 360's are easily damaged by copied discs, but there are people saying they have had no problems, and I suppose with the ability to replace the drive should anything go wronjg its no big deal.

Price of a replacement drive about £20 price of blank DVD's for backing up £1 for expensive fraction of that for cheap ones, the price of a replacing a scratched game disc £30-£40. Think I will try out the Verbaitum and buy some cheap media Aone and see if the burning process fails more on cheaper discs.
