Why is a v7 PS2 different to v1-6 PS2?

    I see loads of posts about v7 ps2's having problems booting backups.

    Why is this?

    Is it some kind of newer piracy protection that was put in v7's?

    I have a v4 PS2, so does that mean i my ps2 will load some backups that a v7 will not?

    it all depends on what you use to boot the backups on the V7. As for exactly what is diffrent that stops it from booting some games, not quite positive.

    Sorry i forgot to say, i have swap magic 2 and flip top lid.

    Just wondered why there's loads of extra problems with v7 ps2's.

    I have a V7 ps2 and the difference between them is that the V7 ps2's have a double check protection which means it checks the discs twice.This makes it harder to back up and boot certain games.

    So if i have a v4 PS2 and cdloader, i'm gonna be ok with most backups?

    Yeah I guess so I can't really give you a straight answer because I don't have a V4.
